The year began with an exciting visit from the Swiss Science Council (SWR) as part of the evaluation of our candidacy as a research infrastructure of national importance.
The year brought some ups and downs, with projects being postponed or adapted at short notice, which presented us with economic challenges. But we also had training courses, events and research/innovation projects where unique results were achieved. I am proud of our team and the professional support we provided, for example in the multi-year Spitallamm project on the Grimsel Pass, where we were able to contribute our accredited building materials testing.
In particular, the exchange with you, our partners, on your challenges and topics motivates and inspires us. The strategy of the Swiss Federal Geological Commission also confirms that we are able to make a significant contribution with our infrastructure and services. We are also considered an international benchmark for research and innovation, indeed we are the "Underground Future Lab"!
With a colorful bouquet of skills and offers, we boldly take on the challenges of our society with a focus on the interface between above and below ground. The potential in the underground is great and together we can set further standards here – in terms of construction, energy, digital technology and sustainability.
Ultimately, it is clear that even with new tools from artificial intelligence or fully automated solutions, our business always runs from person to person, where we create understanding and trust. With this in mind, I would like to express my thanks for the trust and look forward to the joint projects, events and activities in the coming year 2025. May we all achieve our goals safely: Glück Auf!
On behalf of the entire Hagerbach Test Gallery team,
Dr. Michael Kompatscher, Managing Director
