Michael Kompatscher
Dr Michael Kompatscher has been CEO of Hagerbach Test Gallery Ltd since 2017.
Michael Kompatscher obtained his doctorate in physics/material science from the ETH Zurich and has over 15 years of experience in testing and concrete technology, construction chemicals and construction technology as well as in product management, international business development, innovation and marketing.
Prior to this position he held various leading roles in large and medium size international active industrial enterprises
Astrid Gruskovnjak
Dr. Astrid Gruskovnjak has been with the Hagerbach Test Gallery since 2017 and is in charge of the Building Materials Testing Laboratories Division, which also includes managing the accredited area of the laboratories.
Gruskovnjak, who holds a doctorate in geology, started her career at EMPA and then worked in quality assurance at HOLCIM before joining the Hagerbach team situated among the mountainous regions of Eastern Switzerland.
She passes on her experience and profound knowledge not only to laboratory technicians, but also in courses for apprentices and students at universities of applied sciences.
Julien Michels
Julien Michels has been Head of Research Infrastructure at VersuchsStollen Hagerbach AG since June 2024.
After studying civil engineering at the EPF Lausanne and completing his doctorate in steel fiber reinforced concrete at the University of Luxembourg, he began his career as a project leader and research engineer at EMPA. He then moved to the Empa spin-off re-fer AG, where, in the position of Managing Director, he was instrumental in driving forward both product development and the market launch of the innovative 'memory-steel' for the construction industry.
Julien Michels has over 15 years of experience in academic and industrial research, product management and sales, business development, concrete technology, concrete reinforcement and structural strengthening. In addition to his technical training, he completed an MBA postgraduate degree at the University of St. Gallen HSG.
Fabrizio Moro
Dr. Fabrizio Moro has been with Hagerbach Test Gallery since 2021 as head of structural material solutions and managing director of S-Cert (Swiss certification body for building products).
Fabrizio Moro obtained his PhD in durability of re-inforced concrete from ETH Zürich and holds a master degree in physics from ETH Zürich.
Prior to this role he held various positions in a globally leading building materials company as senior researcher, as project and team leader.
He has profound knowledge in concrete technology and constituents and is an active member of various standards & codes and research committees.
Jan Barth
Jan Barth is Director Gastronomy & Events at the Hagerbach Test Gallery since April 2016.
The qualified hospitality and event specialist completed his hotel management studies in Australia, where he first came into contact with the event industry as a banquet manager at Orient-Express (now Belmond) and discovered his professional passion.
Jan now has over 20 years of gastronomy and event experience and is still full of energy and passion for creating unique experiences.
He particularly appreciates the collegial interaction with a wide variety of guests at the Hagerbach Test Gallery. His creativity is the driving force behind everything he does and is reflected in the event rooms at the gallery.
Roman Boos
Roman Boos has been Head of the Industry & Tunnels division at Hagerbach Test Gallery since January 2025.
He has over 20 years of management experience in assembly technology in underground tunnelling & industry.
Roman Boos first completed a Federal Diploma in Agriculture before entering the complex world of installation technology.
He has a higher diploma in economics, as well as further training as a technical businessman.
