St. Barbara Day
On 4 December, we celebrate St. Barbara's Day – the feast day of St. Barbara, the patron saint of miners, tunnel builders and all people who work underground.
For us at the Hagerbach Test Gallery (VSH), this day has a special meaning. It reminds us not only of the roots of our profession, but also of the value of safety, solidarity and innovation in underground work.

Saint Barbara symbolises protection and prudent action. These values still shape our daily work in the tunnels today – from research and training to modern safety concepts.
