Innovation needs the right partners, funding and a place to prove itself. The Hagerbach Test Gallery combines real-scale underground infrastructure with scientific expertise and a strong network of industry and academia — from the initial idea and laboratory development to validation under real large-scale conditions.
VSH is an active research partner in Swiss and European R&D projects in partnership with universities, research centers and industrial companies.

Innovation Partnerships & Funding
We connect companies, start-ups and research institutions and support the development of collaborative innovation projects. This includes partner matching, project development and support for funding applications through Innosuisse and other Swiss, European and international innovation programmes.
Product Development
In product development, we support partners from construction chemistry, mechanical engineering and testing technology from the initial idea through to market launch. Companies such as SIKA have been testing their products in their own tunnel sections for decades — with a batching plant and an accredited testing laboratory directly on site.
Product and technology development can take place in various forms, as for instance in the framework of a service work or a more long-term oriented R&D collaboration.
Prototyping
In prototyping, equipment, machinery and structural system solutions find the right test conditions in the extensive tunnel network — discreetly or in full public view: around 18,000 visitors per year can experience your prototype live, if you wish.
Digitalization
Together with the Amberg Group and research and technology partners, we are developing the Underground Future Lab as a digital and physical research environment. Digital twins, monitoring technologies, remote data access and AR/VR applications enable concepts to be developed virtually and subsequently validated in the real underground environment.
The VSH digital twin concept will allow industrial partners and actors from the academia to execute their experimental activities in a more targeted and concise manner (“test-before-invest”).
